Services

Services can be tailored to your specific needs.

Consultations can make a difference

Hourly Consultations

  • This is for the homeowner with smaller planting beds that may not need a plan. Consultation can also be used for homeowners needing help with ideas, confirmation, and plant identification. The time can range from no less than 1 hour and up to 3 hours.

  • Some hourly landscape design consultations need a basic project outline or a simplified plan to translate the information. If this is something a homeowner recognizes during the consultation, it can be worked up in a bid with the hourly taken into consideration.

  • Vegetable garden coaching or vegetable garden layout, done with a Master Gardener’s point of view.

Planting Plan

Master, Planting, And DIY Plans

  • Master and Planting Plans - can be combined or separate. Each project is different and the flexibility is there. Larger or more complex plans with timeline constraints may be done in phases.

  • DIY Plans are tailored to the homeowner’s specific needs for doing all the work, or a combination with a contractor. The DIY endeavor is more successful with the designer’s help, but it depends on the homeowner’s confidence level.

  • There are many consultations, budget considerations, and usually two or three plan revisions as we go through the process. It takes time to develop a working plan.

Extended Services

  • Hiring a landscape contractor is your next step and a major shift from design to implementation. Let me help you facilitate the process with my extended services. I can introduce you to talented contractors in the hardscape and softscape profession, and give you advice on their bid results. If you already have a landscape contractor or would like to find one on your own and need oversight, I am flexible in collaborating with the contractor of your choice.

  • Project oversight helps maintain the integrity of your design. Oversight is the process of actively monitoring your landscape project from start to finish, ensuring it adheres to the initial design by regularly checking on progress and letting you know of any changes that need to be made.

  • Plant search and plant substitutions.

  • Assisting contractors in plant placement, or coordinating layout changes.

It Starts With A Plan

Peaceful and relaxing backyard

“Embrace the beauty of your landscape and watch it evolve over time. Let your yard grow with your story, making each season a unique chapter. Your goal is to create a space that feels perfect for today. The future will naturally fall into place, just like the changing seasons.”

The Design Process

There are many dynamic levels of work in creating a design.

Old yard needing an update

Before

  • To begin, I meet with you on site to discuss your needs, desires, and budget of your project. I then walk around with you to analyze the property’s condition, soil, sunlight, drainage, and vegetation. We also discuss other issues that may come up. This will give me a broad view to start cultivating ideas and creating solutions.

  • You’re excited and decide to go forward with a plan. We then sign a Letter of Agreement with a price and timeline to start the design.

  • I then come out again to do a more thorough analyze and discuss solutions for any issues. This is a good time to discuss what stays and what goes.

Where To Start

Full Yard Master Plan
  • First, a rough conceptual plan is sketched over a base map or drone photo to capture the flow of the design and explore different possibilities without exact dimensions, or plant species. This is where we go over site constraints and consider construction feasibility.

  • Next, plants are introduced as we progress to the schematic design focusing on translating the chosen features (lawn, paths, retaining walls, patios, decks, lighting, planting beds, etc.). This will help us move into a sustainable and workable Master Plan.

Sustainable Outcome

  • When all is done, you receive a digital and laminated hard copy of the plan.

  • A yard book comes with the plan. This useful book has all your plant info, plant list, planting instructions, and much more. The yard book is great for those who want to do all or part of the yard installation.

  • Before we wrap up, let's confirm that all aspects of your new design and plant details are clear and that all your questions are answered regarding this important information.
